Pastures, Seasons, and the Perfect Egg

Pasture-raised eggs from heritage birds who roam, scratch, and thrive through every Canadian season.

Our egg journey begins with ready-to-lay hens, 12 to 16 weeks old, most of them hardy heritage breeds chosen for their gentle nature and their resilience in our Canadian seasons. From April through November, they live out on open pasture, wandering fresh grass each week and scratching for bugs, seeds, and sunshine as their mobile coop moves across the fields.

When winter settles in, the flock shifts to a secure, cozy coop with plenty of room to roam during the day — and one of their favourite spots is our warm compost pile, where they busily hunt for worms and hidden treats even on the coldest mornings. Happy hens make the best eggs, and every one is collected daily, lightly washed, and packed with care so their natural colors shine beautifully in your fridge.

These hens aren’t just livestock to us — they’re part of our family. They follow us across the fields, greet us at the gate, and weave themselves into the rhythm of our days. Their personalities, their quirks, even the way they gather around our feet — it all becomes part of the life and heart of Eyra.

This is what makes our eggs different: they come from birds raised with intention, patience, and genuine affection. A life well-lived, one egg at a time.
